PROGRAMS // FOOD SHELF
Our Food Shelf is open 9 am – 4 pm Monday - Friday. Community members can come once a week for groceries, canned & dry goods, prepared meals, toiletries, etc. If possible, please bring your own bags, as we have a limited number of boxes. To allow for an optimal market experience, 4 households can come in at a time and are allotted 15 minute shopping time.
Our food shelf helps between 9,000 and 10,000 people each year access the food they need to stay healthy and active.
Our neighbors who access this program are able to select from a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, packaged meals and shelf-stable grocery items. We provide about a week’s supply of groceries to households during each visit.
Volunteers are a crucial part of every program at Feeding Chittenden. The dedicated hearts and hands of the community help us complete the countless tasks that go into providing food for more than 11,000 people every year. As a Food Shelf volunteer, you’ll experience endless opportunities to learn, grow, and play a rewarding role in addressing hunger in your neighborhood.
By supporting Feeding Chittenden, you are making an investment in your community. With your continued support, we can bring about the change necessary to provide opportunities for those who need them most.
