City Market runs a Food for All program that gives low income Vermonters an opportunity to access healthy, local foods. Below we have outlined the program with information we got from their website: http://www.citymarket.coop/foodforall.

City Market’s Food for All (FFA) is a discount program that is working to increase food access to low income Vermonters. This program provides a 15% discount in produce and bulk and a 10% discount storewide (not including alcohol, newspapers, bus passes, and stamps), this opportunity allows people to gain access to the healthy and nutritious foods they need. There are many people who are unaware of this opportunity and we are hoping to spread the word about this great program City Market has made! In 2018 the FFA members saved over $250,000.

The Food for All membership is available for anyone who participates in 3SquaresVT (SNAP benefits, EBT card), WIC (Federal Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children), or SSI/SSDI (Supplemental Security Income/Social Security Disability Income). To apply for this membership you must bring documentation that shows your participation in one of the previously mentioned programs to the Customer Service desk and you will then complete an equity form. See below for the details City Market provides about the documents you must bring to apply:

  • EBT Card, 3SquaresVT Grant Award Letter, or Reauthorization Letter (call 1-800-479-6151 for a copy of your letter).
  • WIC card or award letter (call 802-863-7323 for a copy of your letter).
  • Social Security Income award letter (call 1-877-840-5776 to request a statement of benefits)
  • Signed statement from the Social Security Administration or Vermont Department for Children and Families, Economic Services Division that certifies that you are currently entitled to disability benefits.
  • Medicare card and ID to verify age (if under 65).

Once you are registered the discounts will be added to your membership and the discount will be automatically applied. If you are not yet a member those who are eligible for FFA can become Shareholding members for $15 a year or non-shareholding members for free. FFA discounts last up to one year but can be renewed.
